News: Nordic Mission Officially Announces Re-Issue of Antestor’s ‘The Defeat of Satan’ Compilation
Huge news for us black metal fans – the stalwart team over Nordic Mission have announced the re-release of Antestor’s first two classic demos, The Defeat of Satan (when they were known as Crush Evil) and Despair. A definitive release date has yet to be announced. The re-release will feature a 20-page booklet; and if it’s anything like the ones in previous Nordic Mission reissues such as Antestor’s Kongsblod and GROMS’ Ascension, it’ll be fantastic.
Antestor’s first two demos were unlike anything else in the Norwegian scene at the time – slow, crushing and doomy – and would set them on a crash-course with the black metal underground which would prove to burn their name into the genre’s history, despite incredible pushback from both other Christians and the black metal scene itself. Long out of print, these two demos are absolutely essential listening for anyone not just into extreme metal, but into the history of the black metal genre itself.
