MATT GREINER: Offers Master Class
Visible Music College drum students played drums for 24 hours straight last October in Drumathon15, led by the Drums Division at Visible Music College, and through their determination, showmanship, and drive were able to raise nearly $6,000 toward bringing in a clinician and providing money toward VMC scholarship support of future drum students. This March, we are pleased to announce that they (and any who wish to attend) will be blessed by a master class from the sensational drummer Matt Greiner, who is the founding member and drummer for the group August Burns Red. August Burns Red is a metal group which a lot of our students and faculty know and love, and for our students this is not only a moment to gleam from a musician they look up to and respect, but an opportunity to get real-life insight into how to be successful from someone currently in the industry. Matt brings years of touring experience, band management experience, and drum expertise to Visible on March 25th at 6:00pm in Vining Hall.
From Matt’s bio on Zildjian one of his endorsements: “ I started playing drums in church when I was 15 years old. I always loved metal music because the drumming seemed to be so challenging and creative! I started August Burns Red when I was 17 with some friends in high-school and it’s been my full time career for 13 years now! I’m very fortunate to be able to travel the world and play drums. I’m challenged by drumming just as much as I was the day I first picked up sticks and I’m in love with it more and more every day.

“My name is Matt Greiner. I play drums for Pennsylvania based metal band, August Burns Red. I helped start the band in 2003 and have traveled to over 40 countries and 6 continents, recently playing our 2000th show!
I am looking forward to teaching a drum clinic at Visible! I’ll be going over my process for writing drums for August Burns Red as well as how I structure my practice routine.
I’ll also be talking about the dynamics of touring, how Christianity guides me in the music industry, and how to think like a team player. See you there!”
