DYNASTY: Warriors of the King

Warriors of the King represents Brazil’s Dynasty second full-length album which was originally released in 2010. Having endured some changes in the line-up from 2004’s Motus Perpetuus, the musical execution is a bit more polished, but the power metal format remains intact and Nahor Andrade returns on lead vocals. Overall, the songs have a bit more pace and punch yet remain equally melodic, but there is little to no keyboard presence this time around.

“Faith” and “Life is a Miracle” are the opening tracks and they immediately showcase clean, discernable vocals, clarity of message, shredding guitar leads, solos, melodies and precise, speedy and powerful drumming.

The title track features a heavy riff alternating with galloping double bass and anthemic vocals as Andrade declares, “We are Dynasty, fighting for God” – this song clearly declaring their desire and stance in the Kingdom with plenty of praises to boot.

“Holy Fire” changes things up with a slower, riff-centric rocker, this one of the strongest songs on the album. The surprising clarity, not only within the content of the lyrics themselves, but in the vocal delivery is remarkable given that English isn’t the band’s native language.

My only complaint about the vocals is that they feel a bit strained in the upper register on several songs, like “Faith” and “King of Kings.” When Andrade sticks more to the style and register of songs like “Holy Fire,” “Master of Disguise” and the title track Dynasty’s impact is powerful.

“Master of Disguise” is another more diverse song with a great flow of rhythms and melodies as it depicts in epic metal fashion the true nature of the Great Deceiver.

Not surprisingly, there is a wonderful tribute to Holy Soldier with the well-executed “See No Evil” – a true-to-form rendering of the original with only a few embellishments added on guitars and the bass drum. This is followed by the blisteringly fast and furious “Bloody War” which once again displays the quality of the skill set this band offers up.

This reissued (first time pressed outside of Brazil) CD version contains an 8-page booklet and Silver Foil Trading Card Series #109. In addition, 4 bonus tracks have been included, but little information is offered in the booklet as to the origin of these tracks. “The Honor” (one of the stronger songs in the collection) and “King of Kings” with Josh Kramer (former Saint) dueling with Andrade on vocals were on the original Brazil 2010 release, but as best as I can discern, “Open Your Eyes” is a 2019 single (sounds a bit like Accept) and “The Mud” a 2021 single (acoustic ballad) so these songs have not been included on a previous album.
