Hey. Just a note on the Shift where there is a lot of controversy saying scripture or even God being mentioned in the film is in question.
2nd, Angel studios may bear that name, but deeply routed in mormonism as well affiliations with The Chosen series, which has allowed the LG-culture to be okay with rainbow flag on set. Athiest actors, as well as cast and crew and actors supporting that culture. I don’t know how much research is done, but perhaps not enough and perhaps not push a film that isn’t truth, just entertainment. John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life and no man comes to the father but through me. It is really the only truth I want. And although some may not agree, but how many of us have put entertainment/films/V-games as a big part of our lives? I’m guilty too. But maybe we have been numbed down slowly to keep us distracted from God, His word, Jesus’-The Great Commission and even Matt 25:31-46.
Thanks for allowing me to comment. Jesus is my #1 fan and my biggest hero.
Thank you, Doug, for your heart for the truth and a desire for the body of Christ to avoid error. I appreciate that attitude and heart. However, I am no in agreement with your conclusions.
1. Deeply rooted in Mormonism? Not the case in my opinion. Have you heard Dallas Jenkins, the man who will stand before God and account for his work with The Chosen, and the responses he’s given regarding using Mormon property to film on, etc.? The phrase “I am the law of Moses” (I think I quoted it correctly) coming out of the book of Mormon. That is an unfortunate thing, but I believe that line to be theologically accurate. Jesus is the Word, so therefore He is also the Law of Moses.
2. Rainbow flag on the set. Unfortunate that it was not noticed until after. But whoever noticed it must’ve been looking for something to gripe about, because it was minimal and gone in a second. I agree that this production studio can hire professionals who have unique and possibly different outlooks when it comes to life, politics, and faith. The best of the best should be the criteria, not if they know the Word.
3. Entertainment is part of life. God chose festivals that included dance. He adorned His own temple with artwork. His prophets used sarcasm and talked about using the toilet. He turned water into alcoholic wine. While the Holy Spirit might convict you of idolatry or misplacing priorities in your life, turning around and legislating the same conviction on others is misduided. If He wanted to teach the entire body about where to prioritize entertainment, well that’s His business. He can do that. He can do that through you. Like the Bereans, I get to doubt and not trust at first moment what you are bringing. Correcting behavior, attitudes, and pointing out error can be the work of a prophet and I believe God uses ordinary people like you and me to do that work sometimes, but I’m leary about this. It’s good for me to stop and question. “Is he right? Have I got my priorities out of order? Could this be true of the music I listen to as well?” It’s good to be introspective. But telling someone else what to do? That’s a turn off and can hinder good work. Sometimes God uses imperfect people and they deliver the WOrd imperfectly and yet still the Holy Spirit can use that in the heart of a believer.
And man, I think The Chosen series is a good thing. If I was called as a witness to Dallas Jenkins’ trial in heaven about his work on this series, I would have a lot of good things to say. My words don’t carry any weight on this, but I would tend to say, “Well done, fellow servant.”
