EZ GOMER of JET CIRCUS HAD THIS TO SAY
35 years! Who would have thought.. Let’s just say it’s a great joy and with a thankful heart that Jet Circus together with the excellent people at Girder Music, can celebrate the 35th Anniversary of “Step On it” with a very special re-release of the album! It’s amazing and humbling. The Step On It 35th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is a real beauty – both as CD and Vinyl. Remastered and sounding better than ever – and with some really special bonus tracks included. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
May God bless you and keep you close, always.

THE BAND: A SWEDISH METAL EXPERIMENT LIKE NO OTHER
Formed in Gothenburg, Sweden, by former Leviticus members, Ez Gomér (bass/vocals) and Terry Haw (vocals/guitar), Jet Circus represented a radical creative break from the band that gave them their start. Whereas Leviticus were known for their distinct European metal sound and overtly spiritual lyrics, Jet Circus charged in a completely different direction—fusing hard rock, groove metal, funk, and even rap inflections into a sound that was as bold as it was unpredictable.
Ez Gomér had already earned international recognition on Leviticus’ 1987 album, Setting Fire to the Earth, before deciding to branch out creatively. Teaming with Terry Haw, the two envisioned a project that would take the raw power of metal and inject it with an adventurous rhythmic pulse and fearless experimentation. The result was Jet Circus—a name symbolizing the chaos, spectacle, and freedom they sought to unleash.
THE ALBUM: STEP ON IT (1990 / WONDERLAND RECORDS)
Originally released in 1990 on Wonderland Records (and distributed in the U.S. through Word/Epic), Step On It was one of the most inventive hard rock records to emerge from the Scandinavian scene at the dawn of the ’90s. It’s heavy, but with a swagger. It grooves, but without abandoning melody. It’s raw, soulful, and unapologetically unorthodox.
CD TRACKLIST (3 Bonus Tracks)
Victory Dance / Rockin’ Horse / Jet Blue / Step On It / Ghost Town / Break This Jail / Be Bop A Lula / Train / Run / Dress in White / Let’s Dance / Paradise: Part One / Victory Dance (Leather Remix)
VINYL TRACKLIST (2 Bonus Tracks)
Side A: Victory Dance / Rockin’ Horse / Jet Blue / Step On It / Ghost Town / Break This Jail / Side B: Be Bop A Lula / Train / Run / Dress in White / Let’s Dance / Paradise: Part One
The album opens with “Victory Dance,” a rap-infused metal track that turned heads at the time—and every bit as potent as bands like Faith No More, 24-7 Spyz, and Red Hot Chili Peppers who pushed funk and rap into the mainstream metal space. From there, the record settles into a series of muscular, groove-driven tracks like “Step On It” and “Break This Jail,” both showcasing Jet Circus’ hybrid of heavy riffing and melodic sophistication.
The band even takes a playful detour with their cover of the 1956 rockabilly hit, “Be Bop A Lula” (originally written by Gene Vincent and Bill “Sheriff Tex” Davis), reimagined with a distorted swagger that bridges Elvis and AC/DC. Songs like “Train” and “Run” embody the duo’s knack for fusing spiritual urgency with rhythmic propulsion, while the closing track, “Dress in White,” delivers a deeply symbolic and triumphant finale—one that mirrors the band’s faith-driven resilience.
THE SOUND: AHEAD OF ITS TIME
While Step On It stands firmly in the realm of late-80’s/early-90’s melodic metal, its DNA is laced with experimentation and freedom. Ez Gomér’s basslines are both thunderous and elastic, often carrying a funky fuzz-tone edge, while Terry Haw’s vocals soar between soulful grit and anthemic clarity. The duo’s chemistry is undeniable—each track sounds like a two-man revolution against convention.
Fans of Leviticus expecting power metal were shocked; what they found instead was something closer to Living Colour meets King’s X, filtered through Scandinavian precision and Christian conviction. The record was bold, unorthodox, and in many ways a forerunner of the groove-metal movement that would soon dominate the decade.
LEGACY AND INFLUENCE
Although Jet Circus released only one album in their initial run, Step On It achieved cult status among collectors and Christian-metal historians alike. Its rarity and sonic uniqueness made it one of the most sought-after European Christian rock albums of the early ’90s.
In later years, Ez Gomér continued to write, record, and even revisit the Jet Circus concept—proving that the band’s creative fire never truly went out. With the 35th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, fans can finally experience the album as it was meant to be heard: fully remastered from the original masters, mastered for vinyl, and presented with new packaging worthy of its legend… all with the complete support and approval of Jet Circus founder,Ez Gomér!
