All the waiting culminated in that first listen to new music. The album dropped on a given day. No one heard it ahead of time, no leaking, no streaming. Then all the attention was on the band for that album\/touring cycle. Now our attention spans have become so short, that an entire album can be heard and forgotten even before the physical product hits the streets. So what a joy it was to be there to see the culmination of all Whitecross\u2019 blood, sweat, and tears to release&nbsp;<em>Fear No Evil<\/em>&nbsp;to the public. Album release was hosted by Rev. Lucky VIP ticket holders entered early and were treated to sandwiches, a Q&amp;A with Whitecross- emceed by yours truly, autograph time, group photo time, and an intimate acoustic set by Whitecross. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-7-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-7-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-7-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-7-1-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-7-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-7-1-1024x1365.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-7-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The band played \u201cTop of the World,\u201d followed by the only ever performance of \u201cFurther On\u201d by Rex Carroll on acoustic guitar and vocals- the song being something of a love note he wrote to the fans, \u201cIn the Kingdom,\u201d with Mike and Dave singing, and a cover of Dylan\u2019s \u201cKnocking On Heaven\u2019s Door,\u201d with Mike and Dave singing again (man, their voices sound good together).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-4-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-4-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-4-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-4-1-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-4-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-4-1-1024x1365.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-4-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the main stage, opening bands Chalcedon, Sinners to Saints, and Mawcore played, gearing up the fans for the penultimate point of the evening when Whitecross hit the stage. The band opened with \u201cWho Will You Follow?\u201d and \u201cEnough Is Enough\u201d from their self titled debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-5-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-5-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-5-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-5-1-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-5-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-5-1-1024x1365.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-5-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This being an album release after all, the band played every song on\u00a0<em>Fear No Evil<\/em>, although not necessarily in track order, for you purists: \u201cMan in the Mirror,\u201d hard hitting metal anthem \u201cThe Way We Rock,\u201d \u201cVendetta,\u201d and then what we expected to be Michael\u2019s drum solo turned into a proposal for girlfriend- now fiance Kristin. Then the band stripped down to acoustic mode with Rex on mandolin for \u201cBlind Man,\u201d before returning to full electric mode for \u201cSaints of Hollywood,\u201d with Dave switching effortless between English and Spanish, the worshipful \u201cLion of Judah,\u201d Rex\u2019s essential guitar solo \u201cJackhammer\u201d proving once again why he won\u00a0<em>Heaven\u2019s Metal magazine\u2019s<\/em> Guitar Hero award year after year, \u201c29,000,\u201d title track \u201cFear No Evil,\u201d and \u201cWishing Well,\u201d with band manager Su Smith adding vocals to Dave\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-6-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11109\" srcset=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-6-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-6-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-6-1-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-6-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-6-1-1024x1365.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image000000-6-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Whitecross closed out with \u201cNo Second Chances\u201d and \u201cIn the Kingdom,\u201d fan favorites from Mike\u2019s first album with the band. Several interesting things happened during the show. Foremost, of course, was Mike\u2019s proposal. You don\u2019t see that often during a metal show. Congratulations and blessings on Mike and Kristin. Also early on, Mike cut his thumb and bled profusely, but soldiered on between bandages. My friend George Wright, ever the collector, procured the bloody drumsticks from Mike after the show. Final anomaly was somewhat expected. Given Dave Roberts\u2019 curly mane and raspy vocals, one loud fan mistook him for former singer Scott Wenzel and started yelling Scott\u2019s name. Dave took it in stride, and I set the interloper straight, after which he started yelling out, \u201cSorry for calling you the wrong name, dude!\u201d Well, what would a metal show be without a bit of bloodletting, loud music, yelling, and &#8230;uh, a proposal?
