Founded in late 2025, the project isn&#8217;t trying to fit neatly into today&#8217;s metal scene. Instead, it delivers seven lengthy compositions that walk through Scripture, from the Fall of man to the New Jerusalem, all wrapped in progressive death metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clocking in at just under an hour,&nbsp;<em>The Curse Is Broken<\/em>&nbsp;features seven songs ranging from 6:33 to 10:38. This isn&#8217;t an album built around hooks or radio friendly choruses. It is meant to be experienced as a complete journey, allowing each song to unfold naturally before leading into the next chapter of the biblical narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Fall<\/em>&nbsp;opens the album with a slower pace, pairing acoustic guitar with death growls and smooth clean vocals. It immediately establishes the contrast that defines much of the record. Throughout the album, acoustic passages frequently break up the heavier moments, creating space before the crushing guitars return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Salvation of Your Anointed<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Sow in Tears<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Man of Suffering<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>The Valley of Dry Bones<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Armour of God<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>The New Jerusalem<\/em>&nbsp;continue the biblical journey, drawing inspiration directly from Scripture. Rather than simply borrowing biblical imagery, each song centers on a specific event, prophecy, or promise, allowing the album to tell one continuous story of redemption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The production is undeniably raw. Whether that is a strength or weakness will depend entirely on the listener. Fans of polished modern progressive metal may struggle with its underground sound, while those who appreciate old school independent death and black metal may find it part of the album&#8217;s charm. If you enjoy rough, organic production,&nbsp;<strong>Under the Myrtles<\/strong>&nbsp;could be a project worth discovering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One element that didn&#8217;t connect with me was the combination of rough, raspy vocals over quiet piano and acoustic guitar passages. While I appreciate the artistic direction, those moments never quite clicked for my ears and occasionally distracted from otherwise strong arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visually, the artwork is simple but effective. The logo stands out nicely, and the cover complements the album&#8217;s underground atmosphere without trying to be overly elaborate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What makes&nbsp;<em>The Curse Is Broken<\/em>&nbsp;stand apart isn&#8217;t flawless execution. It is conviction.&nbsp;<strong>Under the Myrtles<\/strong>&nbsp;has written an album unapologetically rooted in Scripture, taking listeners from humanity&#8217;s fall into sin through Christ&#8217;s redemption and ultimately to the promise of the New Jerusalem. In a style where those themes are rarely explored this thoroughly, that alone makes this a unique release within Christian extreme metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re looking for polished production and technical perfection, this probably won&#8217;t be your next favorite album. But if you&#8217;re interested in hearing biblical storytelling presented through progressive death metal with genuine passion and an uncompromising vision,&nbsp;<em>The Curse Is
