MIAMI, FL \u2014 August 2026 \u2014 Veteran hip-hop producer and music-industry executive Jason Zeglis, professionally known as Jaywan, is bringing more than two decades of record production, A&R and sync licensing experience into a new venture built to give independent artists access to opportunities that have traditionally been difficult to reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through Drop Day Distro and its sync licensing division, Drop Day Sync, Zeglis is combining
independent music distribution with a membership-based sync model designed around two ideas: access to rare and difficult-to-find licensing opportunities, and allowing artists to retain 100% of the economics when their music is successfully licensed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the Drop Day Sync model, artists pay an annual membership fee for access to opportunities available through the platform. Drop Day does not take a commission or percentage of a member’s sync licensing fee, publishing, writer's share or royalties from a successful placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI’ve been on the creator side of this business for more than 20 years,\u201d Zeglis said. \u201cI know what it means to make the record, chase the opportunity and then watch different pieces of the economics disappear along the way. From Hip-Hop Records to Thousands of Sync Placements
Jaywan’s career in hip-hop includes production work involving Nipsey Hussle, Jim Jones, Jeezy, Twista, Kid Ink, Krayzie Bone and Boot Camp Clik, among others. His documented production catalog includes records such as Nipsey Hussle featuring Kokane's \u201cMr. Untouchable,\u201d Jim Jones featuring Sandman and Young Handsome’s \u201cMoney on My Mind,\u201d Boot Camp C’s \u201cJail Song,\u201d Kid Ink’s \u201cShe’s a Playa,\u201d and Twista featuring Do or Die and Scotty Music’s \u201cHeaven.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His career also expanded deeply into television and media licensing. Over more than two decades working in sync, Zeglis says his music has accumulated more than 2,000 placements and uses across television and other media, including programming associated with MTV, MTV2, ESPN, FOX Sports, E! Entertainment and additional networks and platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zeglis also previously worked in A&R with Universal Music Group, giving him experience across the creator, label and licensing sides of the music industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHip-hop taught me how important ownership and leverage are,\u201d Zeglis said. \u201cSync taught me
something else: sometimes the biggest advantage isn’t just having the right record. It’s knowing an opportunity exists and having a legitimate way to get the music into the right hands.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turning Industry Relationships Into Artist Access
Drop Day Sync is built around relationships developed during Zeglis' 20-plus years working in synchronization licensing. The platform surfaces licensing opportunities involving music supervisors, production companies, advertising agencies, television networks, brands and entertainment platforms. Many professional music searches are highly specific, move quickly or circulate through established industry relationships rather than broad public channels. That can leave independent artists with potentially licensable music outside the rooms where decisions are being made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drop Day Sync is designed to narrow that gap by giving members access to rare and difficult-to-find projects and music searches through a centralized submission platform. \u201cYou can’t submit your music for an opportunity you never knew existed,\u201d Zeglis said. \u201cThat’s the access
problem we’re trying to solve. Technology helps us organize and deliver the opportunities, but the relationships behind them were built over decades.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Zero-Commission Model
The company’s economic model is intentionally different from traditional commission-based sync representation. Rather than participating financially in every successful placement, Drop Day Sync funds its platform through annual memberships. If a member lands a $5,000 licensing opportunity through the platform, Drop Day’s commission is zero. If the placement is worth $50,000, the company’s percentage remains zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zeglis stresses that the model is not intended as an attack on traditional sync representatives,
publishers or libraries. Hands-on representation, active catalog pitching, deal negotiation and rights administration can justify different economic arrangements. \u201cThere are great sync representatives who earn every point they're paid,\u201d he said. \u201cWe’re building a
different lane. Our model is about providing access without requiring ownership or a percentage of the artist’s success simply because the opportunity came through our network.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where Distribution Meets Opportunity
Drop Day Sync operates alongside Drop Day Distro, Zeglis’ independent music distribution and artist-services platform. The broader concept is to address what happens after independent artists gain the ability to release music globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDistribution has become accessible, which is a great thing,\u201d Zeglis said. \u201cBut putting a song on
streaming services doesn’t automatically create opportunity. I wanted Drop Day to go beyond delivering music and start helping independent artists get closer to the rooms where music is actually being selected, licensed and monetized.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Zeglis, the venture represents a transition from building records and pursuing placements himself to using the relationships and experience accumulated throughout his career to create infrastructure for other independent creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
