Christian metal project Crusader Oath has released the official music video for “The Forest Maker,” an epic, approximately seven-minute track exploring the history of Vlad III of Wallachia, better known as Vlad the Impaler, and his resistance against the Ottoman Empire during the 15th century.

Released October 8, 2026, the song offers a dramatic retelling of the historical figure whose name eventually became entangled with the fictional legend of Dracula. Crusader Oath approaches the story from a distinctly Christian historical perspective, portraying Vlad as a fierce defender of Christendom during the Ottoman expansion into southeastern Europe.

The song follows Vlad’s experiences as a young hostage in the Ottoman court, his eventual rise to power, his military campaigns against Sultan Mehmed II, and the infamous 1462 night attack at Târgoviște. The story also explores his imprisonment by Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus and eventual return to power.

Musically, “The Forest Maker” delivers an ambitious arrangement that combines heavy metal instrumentation, orchestral elements, and dramatic storytelling. The nearly seven-minute composition gives the historical narrative room to unfold, creating a cinematic atmosphere that complements the video’s medieval imagery.

About Crusader Oath

Crusader Oath consists of two traditional musicians who originally began making music together more than two decades ago. Working under the names Artificer and Scriptor, the duo describes its musical origins in thrash, death, and black metal before both members experienced a spiritual transformation that redirected their creative pursuits toward Christianity.

Artificer handles composition, orchestral and auxiliary arrangements, guitars, bass, lead and harmony vocals, lyrics, audio engineering, and video production. Scriptor contributes drums and lyrics.

The band describes its mission as confronting spiritual darkness through music informed by personal experience and Christian faith.

“We do not look away from evil. We know it, we name it, and we fight it,” the duo declares in its official biography.

A Note on the Video’s AI-Generated Visuals

Crusader Oath openly acknowledges using artificial intelligence to create the visual imagery accompanying its music. The band also makes a point of distinguishing those visuals from its musical compositions, which it identifies as entirely human-created.

“100% Human Music: While AI is used to generate visuals, it stops there. We believe that music should always be fully Man-made!” the band states on its official website.

For those curious about the musicianship behind the project, the duo shares a rundown of their instrumental, vocal, songwriting, and production roles. After listening to the track “The Forest Maker,” Heaven’s Metal believes the music is traditional and not created using AI.
