{"id":2992,"date":"2019-02-01T19:25:14","date_gmt":"2019-02-01T19:25:14","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2021-03-08T21:47:23","modified_gmt":"2021-03-08T21:47:23","slug":"grave-decay-from-dust-to-dust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/index.php\/2019\/02\/01\/grave-decay-from-dust-to-dust\/","title":{"rendered":"GRAVE DECAY: From Dust to Dust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\">\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Grave Decay is a 2-man band that hails from the Netherlands.\u00a0 Readers may be familiar with \u00bd the band, Mauce who founded Dutch website <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">The Metal Resource<\/span>.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t sure what to expect from this.\u00a0 The name and album cover teased me into thinking it could be a form of black metal, but instead what we have here is some melodic death metal with some symphonic elements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\">\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">The riffs here are executed well, the growls are effective, and there are just enough strings and keys to keep these interesting.\u00a0 Most of the time, the symphonic elements implement a pleasing layer of sound and melody to the crunchy riffs.\u00a0 This works especially well on tracks like \u201cGrave Mystery\u201d and \u201cMemories.\u201d\u00a0 On a limited number of occasions, they are slightly distracting and less effective, most notably on the ominously-titled \u201cBloodbound.\u201d\u00a0 Perhaps the effectiveness of the strings comes from the fact that they are samples of actual recordings as opposed to synthetic keyboard sounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"align-right\" src=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/39dbb9_16e98fd7819b40198c0336529db87c9b-mv2-0.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"280\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><span class=\"inherit-font-size\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Astonishingly for an indie release, the production on <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">From Dust to Dust <\/span>is immaculate.\u00a0 Everything sounds crisp and clean, and the instruments are easily distinguishable from one another.\u00a0 I think what\u2019s so refreshing about this release is that we have here a band that knows who they are.\u00a0 They aren\u2019t trying to sound like anyone else, not trying to be too brutal, too technical or too anything. \u00a0It\u2019s simply really good melodic death metal written and played really well.\u00a0 That they managed to accomplish this with only 2 members and independent of a record label just adds to its charm. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gravedecayband.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.gravedecayband.com<\/a> (indie) 4 out of 5 stars<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\">\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Album Teaser:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"align-center font_8\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/mqdefault-9-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"626\" height=\"352\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\">\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"font-size: 15px;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grave Decay is a 2-man band that hails from the Netherlands.\u00a0 Readers may be familiar&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":891,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1020],"tags":[534,537,538,515,276,539,535,536,154],"class_list":["post-2992","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-review","tag-grave-decay","tag-morphia-d47","tag-my-silent-wake","tag-paramecium-d39","tag-seventh-angel","tag-symphonic-death-metal","tag-the-metal-resource","tag-the-netherlands","tag-vengeance-rising"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
