Diary of the Damned: A New Release from Evans and Stokes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This December, Multi-genre Metal collaboration EVANS AND STOKES is back, releasing their fourth and strongest album yet, \u201cDiary of the Damned.\u201d The album takes the listener on a journey through the peaks and valleys of human existence from a Christian perspective, starting in the post-apocalyptic wastelands found in songs with titles such as \u201cInto the Badlands\u201d and \u201cEternal Punishment\u201d and ending with the more uplifting and hopeful \u201cA Child of Light\u201d and \u201cDawn Ascending.\u201d This album sees a more varied vocal style from STOKES ranging from aggressive and gritty to clean and sweet while EVANS continues to demonstrate his talent for writing original and engaging riffs that will not disappoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDiary of the Damned\u201d delivers crushing riffs, big hooks, and meaningful lyrics, created by a band that has its own unique songwriting style that seamlessly crosses metal subgenres as diverse as Thrash, Progressive Metal, and Doom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Formed in late 2016, EVANS AND STOKES is a multi-genre Metal collaboration between Jenny Stokes (NZ)  and John Evans (US). Despite having never met face to face, their very similar interests in a wide range of musical styles, have ensured Evans and Stokes were on the same page right from their first collaboration (a song called \u201cKingdom\u201d). Their debut album \u201cBeyond the Gates\u201d was released a mere 10 months later and, like all of their music, was created remotely through email and file transfer. The album, which tells a story of addiction to redemption, was well received, with reviews stating \u201cone of the finer independent releases of the year,\u201d \u201cstunningly composed,\u201d and \u201cpoetic\u201d (Angelic Warlord).  In 2018, Evans and Stokes released their follow up, \u201cValley of the Kings,\u201d which tells the story of the rise, reign and fall of the great Pharaoh Hatshepsut, including quotes from the ancient Book of the Dead<\/em> (which Jenny describes as the weirdest read of her life). By 2019 and the release of their third album, \u201cChildren of God,\u201d the duo was achieving a more mature and developed sound. \u201cChildren of God\u201d is a strong collection of songs, covering historical events like The Crusades and the creation of the atomic bomb, but also delves into more personal topics like depression, addiction, temptation, and Christian faith. The album was very well received by reviewers, ranking number 10 in the Angelic Warlord\u2019s Top Christian Metal Albums of 2019 with one reviewer describing the music as a \u201cwell-crafted collection of songs\u201d \u201cthat is refreshingly free of genre labeling\u201d with \u201ca diversity of styles,\u201d \u201cgifted\u201d songwriting, \u201cgreat sounding guitar tones,\u201d and \u201cpoetic, witty and concise\u201d lyrics (Heaven\u2019s Metal Magazine<\/em>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
