The album featured an expansion of the sound in a heavier direction and a greater diversity of vocalists as Thomas Vikstrom (Therion) was joined by Christian Liljegen (Narnia\/Audiovision), Caroline Sigfridsson and Erik Tordsson. Daniel Flores once again recorded the drums, Andreas Olsson\/Passmark the bass and Kaspar Dahlkvist dazzled on keyboards. Fans of the first release \u2013 <em>Weight of the World<\/em> \u2013 would find much to enjoy with this massive collection of melodic progressive metal \u2013 most of the songs somewhat heavier than the debut, but still featuring the trademark guitar crunch of Markus Sigfridsson.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sonic difference between the 2021 remix and the original are once again quite noticeable with an A\/B comparison, but perhaps not quite as much so as with the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/index.php\/2021\/06\/15\/7days-the-weight-of-the-world-2021-remix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weight of the World<\/a><\/em> remix. Still, the older version \u2013 when compared to the new \u2013 has a more compressed sound and a more anemic sounding bass and kick drum presence. Even the treble voices sound better on the remix \u2013 more vibrant and distinct yet without the distorting sibilance and listener fatigue that plagued the 2010 recording. Overall, the remix just smokes the original \u2013 so expansive, so powerful, so much more punch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Through Dark and Light \u2026 Into Forever<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>72 minutes is a lot of music to cover, and my words can\u2019t encompass the magnitude of what is going on here, but <em>Into Forever<\/em> stands as the perfect complement to <em>Weight of the World<\/em>. No progressive album would be complete without an instrumental intro, right? <strong>\u201cThrough Dark and Light\u201d<\/strong> sets the tone of this album to a slightly darker notch as the thunder, rain and crows herald the heavy grooves of the title track which follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vikstrom and Caroline once again combine talents to create an engaging duet\/debate over the timeless struggle between dark and light and the struggle to find the way <strong>\u201cInto Forever.\u201d<\/strong> The music (below) speaks volumes more than I can express.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Into Forever (Remixed &amp; Remastered 2021)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Bi9JN0-IeoU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>I Have Found in You \u2026 the Innocence in Me<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the qualities of this remix is that the music just feels more \u201cacoustic\u201d and less digitally processed and compressed. Nowhere is that more evident than with the epic \u201cThe Innocence in Me\u201d \u2013 one of the most enjoyable songs on the album and one which features all 4 singers. This song really has everything &#8211; great vocals, heart-felt lyrical confessions, dynamic contrast, killer instrumentations with plenty of guitar and keyboard solo shred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><em><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color\">\u201cWill we ever see what our lives could be\/Will we ever find our meaning in life\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>We Hold the Key<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are so many things that hold us back from finding our way and seeing truth in life \u2013 dark, cold fear can sink us to obscurity. These themes are explored in <strong>\u201cYou Hold the Key,\u201d <\/strong>a song which features sparkling keyboards amidst very combustible guitar solos all <strong>held<\/strong> together with great vocal melodies from Thomas and Caroline. The song has this almost commercial melodic rock vibe but this is juxtaposed with explosive neo-classical power metal overtones and driving bass drum beats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tear Down All Fences<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cEnter a Dream\u201d <\/strong>is the Euro power metal speedy rocker here, the remix essentially lending more power and kick to the fast double bass. This song has that Harmony vibe for sure \u2013 the power and speed on par with some of the songs from <em>Chapter II: Aftermath<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><strong>\u201cCrossing\u201d <\/strong>is a soft instrumental interlude \u2013 a breath of air between two breathtaking heavyweight hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You Will Never be Saved by Your Deeds<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After a brief interlude the intensity is propelled by driving keyboard melodies over a heavy slow groove in <strong>\u201cWe Cry No More\u201d <\/strong>\u2013 a song which reminds us that power and control and \u201cstealing mercy\u201d convey an illusion of success, one which ultimately ends in doom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Some Things \u2026 are Not Meant to be Understood<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The true meaning of power metal can be found <strong>\u201cUnder the Sun.\u201d <\/strong>Swift double bass and snare\/tom rolls propel this song in a headlong spiral as the 4 voices combine in discourse on the ultimate sin \u2013 the exchange of the truth for a lie. The frenetic guitars and keyboards compete for control of the song with dazzling solos and interplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>I Will Not Be the One<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Echoes of Darkwater reverberate within the \u201c<strong>Scattered Mind\u201d <\/strong>\u2013 a slower, riff-fueled track featuring Thomas Vikstrom. The vocals benefit the most from the remix \u2013 the choral sections a \u201ccathedral-hall\u201d quality, the \u201cstand-your-ground\u201d words a more triumphant stance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>We All Will Reach the Final Frontier<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No progressive metal album worth its weight in the world would be complete without the epic song. Nearly 20-minutes in duration, the <strong>\u201cFinal Wisdom\u201d <\/strong>not only represents the epic track, but the music encompasses the scope and lyrical weight of the entire album \u2013 the struggle between light and dark, the innocence of uncertainty, the fear and doubt, the bindings of the flesh, the deliverance, the faith, the humble recognition that knowledge isn\u2019t salvation, the perseverance against attack, the hope in what is to come, and the victory of truth over self-deception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musically, this song showcases a depth of songwriting akin to Darkwater, instrumental technical execution akin to Theocracy and the ebb and flow of emotions and dynamic contrast akin to fellow Swedes Pain of Salvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>My Faith? or What is True?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Where \u201cFinal Wisdom\u201d represents the pinnacle of the journey<strong>, \u201cWhat Matters\u201d <\/strong>represents the denouement. The voices combine and conspire to deliver a powerful finale accompanied by a crunchy, mid-tempo drive once again replete with tasteful guitar leads, cinematic keyboards and powerful drumming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><strong>\u201cFrontier\u201d <\/strong>represents the bonus track from the \u201cunrealized\u201d Japan release. This instrumental \u2013 similar to \u201cEquinox\u201d \u2013 has that neo-classical Yingwie vibe, and at 4-minutes duration has the substance to properly close-out this collection of melodic progressive\/power metal excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1016\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7days-Into-Forever-disc-2021-1016x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6586\" srcset=\"https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7days-Into-Forever-disc-2021-1016x1024.jpg 1016w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7days-Into-Forever-disc-2021-298x300.jpg 298w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7days-Into-Forever-disc-2021-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7days-Into-Forever-disc-2021-768x774.jpg 768w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7days-Into-Forever-disc-2021-1024x1032.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/heavensmetalmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/7days-Into-Forever-disc-2021.jpg 1434w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1016px) 100vw, 1016px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The new booklet is 20 pages (the original 14 pages) and retains the original lyrics\/art layout with a few additional images and the credits page altered slightly. There is a page as well for the bonus track \u201cFrontier\u201d with its own imagery. The \u201cblack\u201d (red polycarbonate) CD features new artwork (matching the logo of the <em>Weight of the World<\/em> remix) making this release the perfect companion to the renewed version of the 7days debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I will confess, that when I first heard this album 11 years ago, I didn\u2019t appreciate or \u201chear\u201d all that was going on both musically and lyrically. Thanks to this remix, I\u2019m enlightened and enthralled, especially where the drums and vocals are concerned. But additionally, I didn\u2019t fully explore the lyrical brilliance. Shame on me. Ulterium Records and Markus Sigfridsson have collaborated to bring this masterpiece \u201cout of the darkness\u201d and \u201cinto the light.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulterium-records.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ulterium Records<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
