ALTARHEART: Releasing EP
Christian metal duo Altarheart will release a new 6-song EP “Creatures Here Below” Oct. 4. The band has given listeners an appetizer over the last month with two singles, “Malice” and “Save Our Souls.”
Founder Anthony Thomas says he drew inspiration for the EP title from the Doxology, which his church regularly sings concluding each service.
“I love the harmony of believers singing as one voice to our Father. This EP’s songs long for that, while confronting what often separates us from each other. This polarizing political year has been heartbreaking to say the least. It was therapeutic to use this music as a plea to God,” he said.
First single “Malice” covers the disdain people can have toward others, particularly those different than or less fortunate than them. “Save Our Souls” confronts preachers using divisive language and pleading to God to not let his children go off the deep end after arbitrary things.
Thomas says the rest of the EP will take listeners on a journey back to God.
“My goal when writing lyrics is to have resolution. It may not happen at the end of every song, but I order tracks in albums in a way that ends in a more peaceful place than where they began,” Thomas said.
“Creatures Here Below” is available for pre-order on iTunes and can be pre-saved to streaming libraries. A music video for the title track will debut upon the EP’s release on the band’s YouTube page.
