UNHEARD LARRY NORMAN ALBUM SURFACES AFTER NEARLY HALF A CENTURY
A long-rumored recording of a Larry Norman concert in London, England has been located and restored after it was thought to be lost for 46 years. The concert was recorded professionally on 24-track tape and captures Norman at the height of his career.
In 1977 Larry Norman was at the peak of his creative and performing abilities. Having just released his biggest selling album In Another Land, Norman embarked on an ambitious and lengthy world tour that included Australia, America, Europe, Israel, India, and Saudi Arabia among many other countries. For the UK leg of the journey he hired a mobile recording studio to capture his performances in London, England. Recordings that never saw the light of day until now.
“He was a phenomenon of the Christian underground who could quietly fill up 5,000 seats without the rest of the music business knowing about it.” said Steve Turner, British music journalist for Rolling Stone and NME, and best-selling author of several books on The Beatles, U2, and Cliff Richard.
The tapes have been restored and digitally transferred in preparation for a double CD / double LP release featuring many of Norman’s well known songs with backing by the Alwyn Wall Band, and is currently active in a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.
