2003UB313: Releases New Single

2003ub313 Releases New Single “Saturn”
Available Right Now Via The Charon Collective

Listen to “Saturn” from 2003ub313 right now2003UB313 is self-described as “a group of friends playing screamy punk rock mixed with a little math and a whole lot of energy.” Not content to just release music for the sake of personal pleasure, the band desire to see their songs used by “Jesus’ Spirit [to] transform them and the communities that they are a part of across their lives – neighbors, work places, friends, and yeah, music scenes and shows.”

One of the main questions the quartet are asked the most is, “What does the name of the band mean?” Andrew offers the inquisitive the following answer to this query.

“So, 2003ub313 was the catalog number for the dwarf planet Eris when it was first discovered, before they officially named it. Consequently, Eris demoted Pluto to dwarf planet status as well, and Pluto’s moon is Charon and, well, it’s all connected, you see!” Isn’t that fitting?

At The Drive-In and mewithoutYou are brought up when listeners are asked who 2003UB313 reminds them of. The influences on the band aren’t quite that cut and dry.

“If I were to get all artistic for a moment, I’d say that we’ve been far more influenced by bits and pieces of certain songs, or even shows, and then they all come through in our creative process, rather than being influenced by entire bands or albums. That being said, I’ve been strongly influenced by early Norma Jean (and ‘Landslide Defeater’ – that song wails), The Chariot, the first few Thrice albums, Selfmindead’s ‘At the Barricades We Fall,’ and Take It Back’s ‘Atrocities’ album, even though we’re not really the same style. That list totally dates me!” shares Andrew.

“Saturn” is the first single off 2003ub313’s upcoming EP “Giant.” It’s available to purchase and stream right now via The Charon Collective right here. It’s also available on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and other outlets.
