KRISSI GREEN: Releases Book On Human Trafficking

New book Many More Like Me tells a gut-wrenching true story of human trafficking for the first time

Krissi Green’s book chronicles her family’s harrowing attempt to help Claire, a teenager being trafficked for sex

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — In the new book Many More Like Me, debut author Krissi Green tells the harrowing true story of her family’s involvement with Claire, a teenage girl who was trafficked for sex. The book is available for purchase now at https://manymorelikeme.com/

Krissi Green and her husband, Tommy Green (frontman of metal outfits Sleeping Giant and HolyName), encountered Claire online and heard her story. They became deeply involved, developing a friendship that would end in heartbreak — and catalyze the founding of the Run Against Traffic Foundation, their answer to the global epidemic of human trafficking.

“I’m telling her story, telling our story, because it became this one year of a radical story that changed our lives. It put us on a trajectory to solve a need,” Krissi Green shares.

“In her new book Many More Like Me, Krissi’s vulnerability and openness in sharing such intimate details of what she witnessed was incredibly painful for her, but she knew what God was calling to do,” offers Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. “This captivating insight into the world of human trafficking is painful to read, but it’s also a beautiful story worth telling. Every person with a heart needs to be aware of what’s really going on out there in this dark underworld.”

As Krissi writes in the book, and as the best research corroborates, there are more people living in conditions of modern-day slavery now than at any other time in history. Despite that level of prevalence, most human trafficking remains unnoticed to the average person. Many More Like Me aims to change that with the most powerful tool we have in awareness about this horrific injustice: the true stories of those who have lived through it.

“This is all so that people can witness her story, witness her as a person, and understand that there’s many more like her out there,” Krissi explains. “Giving a glimpse into this dark world of human trafficking and empowering people to be part of the solution — even if it’s just for one survivor, or one person that is like ‘oh my gosh, this is a problem? And this is how I can be part of aiding in the recovery and rehabilitation?’”

Krissi and Tommy Green have offered a practical way for people to aid through Run Against Traffic, an organization that began by using running to fund aftercare efforts and has grown into a much bigger grassroots fundraising mechanism.

“What we learned in working with Claire and a second survivor is that there’s a huge gap between the rescue, taking them out of the situation, and restoring survivors to a life— a dignified life. One that they feel proud of, that feels true to their expression,” Krissi says earnestly. “Realizing that there’s such a huge gap in long term aftercare, asking ‘how do we actually help people recover into life for themselves?’ Run Against Traffic came out of that desire to fund organizations that are actually doing the long term work of housing, educating, therapy, all these modalities of aftercare. And we want Claire’s story to help propel that, to help in closing that gap.”
