News: Symphony of Heaven Drops Behind-the-Scenes Video for ‘The Hunter’
Indiana’s Symphony of Heaven is pulling back the curtain on “The Hunter,” a standout track from their latest album, Ordo Aurum Archeia. The band’s newly released behind-the-scenes video explores the song’s creation, set to a soundscape inspired by early ’90s melodic death metal.
Far from a typical horror homage, “The Hunter” serves as a key chapter in Ordo Aurum Archeia, following Van Helsing as a Grandmaster of the Ordo Aurum in his fight against Nosferatu.
Crafted primarily by guitarist ØNYX, with additional contributions from frontman Logan “Pathos” Thompson, the song’s meticulous production features three guitars, including a custom Schecter with a Sustainiac pickup—originally made for shred legend Jeff Loomis. ØNYX also utilized another Schecter for additional leads and an Ibanez for crushing rhythms, layering tones that channel the spirit of Hypocrisy and other early melodic death metal pioneers.
Former band member ØX returned to record the track’s searing solo, adding a signature flair that blends perfectly with the cinematic riffs and sorrowful melodies. “The Hunter” exemplifies this balance, combining brutal riffs with soaring melodies in a tale of light versus darkness.
