FEAR NOT Releases Remastered Version of Fan-Favorite Track “Voluntary Madness”
Southern Metal Legends Partner with Resurrection Records to Breathe New Life into a Powerful
Anthem of Hope
Established in the heart of the ’90s rock scene, FEAR NOT has been a driving force in Southern
Metal for over three decades. Now signed with Resurrection Records, the band is set to release a
remastered version of their critically acclaimed 2022 track, “Voluntary Madness.”
Lead singer Eddie Green shares that “Voluntary Madness” was born from a deeply personal
reflection on the devastation caused by alcoholism. Eddie explains how he prayed for a message
that could convey the pain from the perspective of an alcoholic, and the result was a song that
highlights both struggle and redemption. The track carries a powerful reminder that God is
bigger than any problem and that the void people often try to fill with substances can only be
truly satisfied by Christ.
The band hopes listeners will walk away from “Voluntary Madness” with a renewed sense of
hope, realizing that no struggle is too big for God to handle. Their goal is for the song to reach
anyone in need of encouragement, regardless of their musical preferences, believing their sound
has something to offer everyone.
Though there isn’t a specific Bible verse that directly inspired the lyrics of “Voluntary Madness,” the song’s direction was guided by the Holy Spirit. The writing process is an intuitive experience for the band, with ideas and lyrics often coming in a flood. “Most of my lyrics are written in 5-10 minutes,” the lead singer shares, adding, “It just comes to me—a title, a riff—and it all flows from there.”
The decision to remaster “Voluntary Madness” came after prayerful consideration of which song would connect most with listeners.
The band unanimously agreed this was the track that could offer comfort and inspiration to the
widest audience. Though no specific Bible verse influenced the lyrics directly, Eddie credits the
Holy Spirit’s guidance for the depth and urgency behind the song’s message.
In summing up the message of the song, Eddie simply states: “Hope.” This single word
encapsulates the essence of the track, making it a timeless anthem for anyone facing life’s
challenges.
The remastered version of “Voluntary Madness” will be available on all major streaming
platforms starting February 21!
