(Empowered photo) | “This is my 5th NRB conference, and I am so overwhelmed by what God shows me at each of these events,” says DiChiara. “I have found that God always speaks to me, whether through the gracious and talented media folks I interview with, or the stranger I meet in the hallway who becomes a friend by the end of the week. All God connections.” “And that’s the thing,” he continues. “God sometimes does His best work when we’re going about our daily tasks. I am humbled by His grace towards me.” On the heels of their latest release, Yahweh Nissi, DiChiara and Empowered, who have had seven No. 1 hits on the indie charts in the last several years, are teaming up again with Dove Award-winning and Billboard chart-topping singer/songwriter/producer Mikey Howard (7eventh Time Down) to produce their upcoming release, SALT. |
| The new project is due out in Spring 2025 from Slingshot Records. “Go Forth,” the lead single from the new project, is based on Mathew 5:13, in which Jesus says to His disciples, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” SALT is a perfect album for these times. | About Benny DiChiara and Empowered:Singer/songwriter/survivor Benny DiChiara is the founder and frontman of the indie Christian Rock band, Empowered. A New Orleans native, DiChiara is also a businessman, motivational speaker, father, and husband. Having come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ later in life, the U.S. Navy vet first fronted a secular rock band before surrendering his music to ministry. Empowered, which DiChiara founded after giving his life to Christ, has become a staple of the live music scene in their home state of Louisiana, sharing the stage with such powerhouse artists as Switchfoot, MercyMe, Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, 7eventh Time Down, Riley Clemmons, Phil Joel, Ryan Stevenson, and Jaci Velasquez. The band first gained traction in the indie music world as their critically-acclaimed project, Three Days, garnered six No. 1 hits on Indiegospel.net’s Top 20 singles and Top 10 video charts. |
| The band’s most recent Number 1 hit single (and music video), “I’ll Meet You There (Daddy’s Song),” which is featured on their latest EP, Yahweh Nissi, was written after the death of DiChiara‘s father from cancer. DiChiara co-wrote the song, as well as the current single, “Jesus Can Heal the World,” with the project’s producer, Dove Award-nominated recording artist Mikey Howard (7eventh Time Down, Love Journey Music). In addition to Yahweh Nissi, Howard also produced the band’s Three Days EP. Along the way, DiChiara has appeared on multiple national media outlets, including CBN’s flagship show, The 700 Club; Cornerstone Television Network’s flagship show, Hope Today; The Christian Post’s online lifestyle magazine, Crossmap.com; Inspiration.org; Bill Martinez Live!; NRBTV and WATC-TV 57 in Atlanta’s award-winning TV show, Babbie’s House; LIFE Today Live with Randy Robison; World Christian Broadcasting; MRG Media; The Meeting House on Faith Radio; popular Baton Rouge, Louisiana, lifestyle publication, 225 Magazine, and many more. In addition to his music, DiChiara has a powerful testimony of God’s mercy and healing that he loves to share. In October 2015, a serious brain injury nearly took his life and his capacity to create music. DiChiara astonished doctors with a nearly full recovery, and the healing process turned into a creative season, during which the band’s chart-topping EP, Three Days, was written. And now, with Empowered’s latest EP, Yahweh Nissi, DiChiara continues to proclaim his journey from lost to found, aimless to empowered, unapologetically bold in his faith and the message of Jesus’ saving grace. “God spoke to me that He is looking for His people to not only claim Him, but to rise up with their voices to bring people back to Jesus,” says DiChiara. “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). This is the heart behind the title track, ‘Yahweh Nissi,’ which is a war cry for Jesus. DiChiara and Empowered are honored to contribute to the work of the non-profit organization, Children’s Cup (childrenscup.org), which works in regions where AIDS is rampant, poverty is crushing, and the ranks of orphaned and vulnerable children continue to swell. DiChiara lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with his wife Donna. |
