NEW ORLEANS, LA (May 19, 2025) –
Singer/songwriter/survivor Benny DiChiara and his chart-topping indie Christian Rock band, Empowered, are set to take the stage at the NOLA Gold Rugby team’s upcoming NOLA Gold Faith Night in New Orleans on Saturday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
NOLA Gold, the city of New Orleans’s professional rugby team, will sponsor the event, along with Lifesongs Radio and the New Orleans chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
“We are so blessed to partner with the ownership of the NOLA Gold Rugby team in New Orleans for their upcoming Faith Night on May 24!” says DiChiara, lead singer and primary songwriter of the band.
“It’s even more special because we get to connect with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on this as well,” DiChiara continues. “It’s a rare opportunity to reach people for Jesus in the same way that Jesus did it—get into the people. Live where they live and show them Jesus! SO blessed!”

At the NOLA Gold Faith Nght event, to be held following the game between NOLA Gold and the Utah Warriors, fans will hear testimonies from NOLA Gold players and FCA members about how their faith shapes their lives on and off the field.
As seen on CBN’s flagship show, The 700 Club, DiChiara will share his powerful testimony of surviving a traumatic brain injury that nearly took his life and his capacity to create music. Instead, he astonished doctors with a rapid and nearly full recovery, and the man who was once at the edge of life is now full of purpose and divine presence.
During their live performance at the event, Empowered will debut “The One,” the lead single from their upcoming project, SALT, due out this summer.
“‘The One’ is based on Luke 15:3-7, where Jesus tells the parable about leaving the 99 to find the lost ONE,” says DiChiara. “No matter the circumstances in our lives right now, God is seeking US right now. Press into Him and find His love, mercy, and grace for your life. Just like me, you are the one!”
On the heels of their latest release, Yahweh Nissi, DiChiara and Empowered, who have had seven No. 1 hits on the Indie charts over the last several years, are teaming up once again with Dove Award-winning and Billboard chart-topping singer/songwriter/producer Mikey Howard (Love Journey Music and 7eventh Time Down) to produce SALT.
The NOLA Gold Faith Night event will take place at 6000 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70003 at The Shrine on Airline. About Benny DiChiara and Empowered:
Singer/songwriter/survivor Benny DiChiara is the founder and frontman of the indie Christian Rock band, Empowered.
A New Orleans native, DiChiara is also a businessman, motivational speaker, father, and husband. Having come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ later in life, the U.S. Navy vet first fronted a secular rock band before surrendering his music to ministry.
Empowered, which DiChiara founded after giving his life to Christ, has become a staple of the live music scene in their home state of Louisiana, sharing the stage with such powerhouse artists as Switchfoot, MercyMe, Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, 7eventh Time Down, Riley Clemmons, Phil Joel, Ryan Stevenson, and Jaci Velasquez.

The band first gained traction in the indie music world as their critically-acclaimed project, Three Days, garnered six No. 1 hits on Indiegospel.net’s Top 20 singles and Top 10 video charts.
The band’s most recent Number 1 hit single (and music video), “I’ll Meet You There (Daddy’s Song),” which is featured on their latest EP, Yahweh Nissi, was written after the death of DiChiara‘s father from cancer. DiChiara co-wrote the song, as well as the current single, “Jesus Can Heal the World,” with the project’s producer, Dove Award-nominated recording artist Mikey Howard (Love Journey Music, 7eventh Time Down). In addition to Yahweh Nissi, Howard also produced the band’s Three Days EP.
Along the way, DiChiara has appeared on multiple national media outlets, including CBN’s flagship show, The 700 Club; Cornerstone Television Network’s flagship show, Hope Today; The Christian Post’s online lifestyle magazine, Crossmap.com; Inspiration.org; Bill Martinez Live!; NRBTV and WATC-TV 57 in Atlanta’s award-winning TV show, Babbie’s House; LIFE Today Live with Randy Robison; World Christian Broadcasting; MRG Media; The Meeting House on Faith Radio; popular Baton Rouge, Louisiana, lifestyle publication, 225 Magazine, and many more.
In addition to his music, DiChiara has a powerful testimony of God’s mercy and healing that he loves to share.
In October 2015, a serious brain injury nearly took his life and his capacity to create music. DiChiara astonished doctors with a nearly full recovery, and the healing process turned into a creative season, during which the band’s chart-topping EP, Three Days, was written. And now, with Empowered’s latest EP, Yahweh Nissi, DiChiara continues to proclaim his journey from lost to found, aimless to empowered, unapologetically bold in his faith and the message of Jesus’ saving grace.
“God spoke to me that He is looking for His people to not only claim Him, but to rise up with their voices to bring people back to Jesus,” says DiChiara. “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). This is the heart behind the title track, ‘Yahweh Nissi,’ which is a war cry for Jesus.
DiChiara and Empowered are honored to contribute to the work of the non-profit organization, Children’s Cup (childrenscup.org), which works in regions where AIDS is rampant, poverty is crushing, and the ranks of orphaned and vulnerable children continue to swell.
DiChiara lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with his wife Donna.
