News: Sardonyx Return With ‘Anthems of Warfare’

Christian metal veterans Sardonyx are back with a brand new full-length, Anthems of Warfare, and Roxx Records is bringing it to life on a limited edition jewel case CD run of just 300 copies.
If the name sounds familiar, it should, Sardonyx have been carrying the torch since 1988, closing in on nearly 40 years of ministry-driven metal. Earlier this year, fans got a taste of the band’s roots when Roxx reissued their 4-track demo Rebel of Reason as part of the Gems Volume 5 series. Now it’s time to step into the present with an album of all-new material: Anthems of Warfare.
True to its title, the record digs deep into Old Testament themes of warfare and worship, drawing parallels between the great figures of scripture and the ultimate fulfillment of prophecy in Christ. Each song tells a story, Moses raising his song after the destruction of Pharaoh’s army, Deborah the warrior-prophetess standing firm, Shammah taunting the enemies of God, Solomon bowing in worship, Daniel foretelling the future, and the Levites carrying the Ark of the Covenant into battle.
This isn’t just metal for the sake of heaviness, it’s a soundtrack of scripture, designed to disciple and point listeners toward Christ while staying true to Sardonyx’s roots as a ministry band.
