News: Mangled Carpenter to Release New Single ‘The Absence of Light’
Extreme metal band Mangled Carpenter will release its new single, “The Absence of Light,” on Friday, April 17, as the first preview of an upcoming EP expected later this year.
The release also continues the band’s collaboration between Broken Curfew Records and Rottweiler Records, a partnership aimed at expanding the reach of underground heavy music in an increasingly crowded digital landscape.
Musically, “The Absence of Light” finds Mangled Carpenter pushing further into deathcore territory than on some of its previous material while still retaining the deathgrind intensity that has been part of the band’s identity. The track leans into a darker and heavier approach, with an emphasis on aggression, weight, and a more punishing overall sound.
According to the announcement, this single will be the first of two songs released in advance of the forthcoming EP. It also marks the first public unveiling of the release’s cover art.
The partnership behind the single reflects a broader commitment from both labels to support underground artists at a time when the volume of mass-released music can make it difficult for independent bands to gain visibility. In that sense, “The Absence of Light” arrives as more than a standalone track. It serves as an introduction to the next phase of Mangled Carpenter’s evolving sound and to a release strategy designed to keep attention on extreme underground music.
Fans of the band can expect a song that presses harder into modern heaviness while maintaining the abrasive edge that has defined Mangled Carpenter’s work to this point.
“The Absence of Light” releases April 17.
