News: Burning Sun Bring Faith and Classic Power Metal Together on ‘Power to Survive.’

Hungarian power metal outfit Burning Sun have released their third full-length album, Power to Survive, continuing the band’s devotion to the classic European power metal sound of Helloween, Gamma Ray, Edguy and Hammerfall.

Founded in 2022 by bassist Zoltán Papi, Burning Sun built its identity around soaring melodies, driving riffs, anthemic choruses and fantasy-inspired storytelling. Following 2023’s Wake of Ashes and the 2025 concept album Retribution, Power to Survive marks another evolution for the band with an expanded lineup featuring vocalist/guitarist Nicolas Peter, guitarist Pancho Ireland, Papi on bass and drummer Edmond Kulcsár.

Written by Peter and Papi, the 10-song album centers on perseverance through difficult seasons, carrying an explicitly faith-rooted foundation beneath its fantasy imagery. Papi, a Christian, describes the lyrics as written for the glory of Jesus Christ, with songs including “Light of the World” placing that spiritual foundation directly at the center of the record. He says the album’s artwork also carries a faith-based concept tied to the music.

Musically, Burning Sun remain firmly planted in the golden era of ’90s European power metal: melodic guitar work, high-energy rhythms, heroic atmosphere and the kind of unapologetically uplifting songwriting that once defined the genre.

Power to Survive is available now on Spotify and other digital platforms.
