SPIRIT OF FEAR: Releases Debut

Father/Son music project Spirit of Fear has released their self-titled debut album “Spirit of Fear” in conjunction with MET Productions. Spirit of Fear is a unique blend of Thrash and Progressive Metal, with other genres thrown in, including an interesting cover of “God Is Dead?” by Black Sabbath. The lyrics are both hard hitting and self-reflective. The album was released on October 28th, 2022 and is available to stream or purchase on all major platforms (Spotify, Youtube Music, Apple Music)

On their way to see legendary guitarist Phil Keaggy in the Twin Cities MN in 2021, Matty Todryk said “Hey, I think I just wrote a song”. After looking at the lyrics, Michael Todryk knew that he had indeed written the lyrics to the song “After” and a collaboration was born. Michael had been in a musical desert for a while and had been praying for God to bring along a new musical opportunity. Little did he know the answer to his prayer was his own son.

Within a week there were enough lyrics for 3 albums and work began in earnest on “Spirit of Fear”, their debut album. Songs began to come together over the next year, with Michael writing and performing all the music, as well and mixing and mastering. Ideas and influences from 40+ years of music loving and playing gelled into a unique blend of Thrash and Progressive, with some Fusion and Classical thrown in for good measure. “This is an album that I have wanted to write for a long time. To get to write it with my son is truly a gift from God”, says Michael. Matty picked out the cover of “God is Dead?” by Black Sabbath. “Black Sabbath is what turned me onto heavy music back in the 70’s, so this was a perfect choice for our debut.” Matty helped with the production throughout and the album was finally released on October 28th, 2022. Spirit of Fear is available on all streaming platforms, including Spotify, Youtube Music, and Apple Music.
