Trouble certainly turned a lot of heads in 1984 with their self-titled release, which later became renamed Psalm 9, I believe. I remember being in Orange County, California in the summer of ’84 and picking up the phone and making the long-distance call (gasp! I hope I had permission from Grandad and Grandma!) to Enigma Records, asking about the release date of the debut album from Stryper. “We have another Christian band on the label that you might be interested in,” they said. “They’re called Trouble. I went out and got it right away. All these many years later, it’s awesome to see their name dropped in that scene from the movie Electric Jesus, where the main character rattles off 66 of the bands he listens to. “This heavy band out of Chicago, called Trouble.” Anyway, just some random thoughts from this magazine editor on a Monday while posting news about said band. Read on.
