ALTARHEART: Drops New Single

West Virginia metal duo Altarheart has just dropped an explosive new single ‘Malice‘ and a corresponding music video. The song is the first taste of a 6-song EP due Oct. 4 called ‘Creatures Here Below.’

Based on Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:35, ‘Malice’ is written from a first-person view of someone content with not loving others, especially those less fortunate.

“I wrote ‘Malice’ out of frustration with how society sees those experiencing homelessness, drug addiction, social/economic disparity and other setbacks,” Altarheart founder Anthony Thomas said. “I wanted to also make it applicable to today’s tense social and political climate, encouraging people to turn the other cheek instead of giving into our divisive tendencies.”

Thomas formed Altarheart in early 2023 before adding his brother Alex on the writing process earlier this year. The band put out a stand-alone single “Suffer Alone” in the spring, and released debut album “Deny Thyself” last fall. This year’s music looks to build on the metalcore and sometimes deathcore influences.

“I hope people enjoy the intensity of this one. It takes the sound of last year’s song ‘Death Valley,’ which went over pretty well, and kicks it up a couple notches,” Thomas said.

Altarheart will drop a second single ‘Save Our Souls’ on Sept. 13 along with a corresponding lyric video on the band’s YouTube page. The band’s music is available on all streaming platforms.
