IMMORTAL FESTIVAL: Review
I’ve been to all 5 Immortal festivals – one in 2022, and two each in 2023 and 2024, covering Christian metal history in the making at BMI Event Center in Versailles, Ohio. This one topped them all. As well as all the usual suspects (and not a slouch among them), this one boasted a performance by Worldview, the return of Bride after 16 years, and Shout, who’ve only played once since their breakup last millennium.
But before you start to salivate over the details, I can’t tell you about it. I’ve treated each trip out to BMI like a missions trip, helping out wherever needed to make things run smoothly. However, on this trip BMI leadership (Ed) decided that it was too crowded behind the scenes and denied any press or photographer access for the festival. As a customer, I enjoyed the festival immensely, but did not have the access needed to do my job as a journalist to bring you, the reader, the scoop. This is not a sob story, just an explanation for bands and fans who have come to expect Heaven’s Metal’s coverage of Immortal, and a hope that things will change for next time.
