Aesthetic Whiplash, Emotional Gut Punch, and a Groove You Can’t Shake
There’s something about a bright balloon party set to the sound of bleeding hearts and spiraling self-talk that just hits different.
Vocalist Magdalene Rose has always stood out to me. Not just because her vocals somehow manage to be fierce and comforting at the same time—like a lullaby laced with barbed wire—but because there’s a boldness in how she presents pain. She doesn’t mask it. She wraps it in color, dances through it, and hands it to you in a song that’s extremely catchy.
The band’s new music video for “Hey At Least I’m Feeling Something” is a beautiful contradiction: upbeat visuals and a homemade aesthetic, layered over deeply confessional lyrics about numbness, self-harm, and the craving to just feel something again. There’s a little grit in the groove, but it’s not here to crush you. It’s here to make you move. To nod along. To see yourself in it—and maybe to feel seen.

Rose and Blaise Rojas shot and edited this video themselves, and it shows—in all the best ways. It’s personal. Raw. Like opening up someone’s diary and finding a dance party in the margins.
“We filmed/edited this entire video by ourselves so it could have that homemade look,” Magdalene posted online, tongue firmly in cheek, “so I would hateeeee it if everyone went and watched it 20 timessss…”
Yeah. Go watch it 20 times. It’s that good.
