News: Voluntary Mortification Releases Cover of ‘Entombment of a Machine’
Christian deathcore outfit Voluntary Mortification just dropped a savage new single, a blistering cover of Job for a Cowboy’s breakout track Entombment of a Machine. Fans of the genre will instantly recognize the crushing riffs, guttural growls, and bone-rattling breakdowns that made the original a staple in deathcore playlists. But this isn’t just a cover, it’s a full-circle tribute.
The cover art features a horned skull figure front and center, both a nod to Job for a Cowboy’s infamous iconography and a symbolic reclaiming of heavy imagery for a higher message. The band stands grounded in front of a decaying building, visually underscoring the spiritual tension between death, destruction, and rebirth.
Bassist Jon James shared the heart behind the release:
“Job for a Cowboy is a huge inspiration to us. This song is one that everyone in the genre knows and we hope it’ll lead listeners to follow us and find God’s message in our current music and upcoming EP.”
It’s a bold move, tackling a genre-defining track from the secular scene and infusing it with kingdom purpose. Whether you’re a diehard deathcore fan or just discovering Voluntary Mortification, this track rips and points higher.
Out now on all streaming platforms.
