News: Mangled Carpenter Announces New EP – Between Blood and Silence
Extreme metal outfit Mangled Carpenter will return July 17 with Between Blood and Silence, a new EP arriving through Rottweiler Records and Broken Curfew Records.
Following the band’s 2023 release Salvation Syndrome, the upcoming record pushes Mangled Carpenter’s established deathgrind foundation into darker and more atmospheric territory. Mechanical textures, deathcore elements and slower, groove-driven passages expand the band’s sonic architecture while preserving the aggression at its core.
The opening title track, “Between Blood and Silence,” immediately establishes the EP’s heavier and more deliberate character. Its crushing pace and deathcore-inflected weight signal a broader evolution that continues throughout the release.
“The Absence of Light” delivers one of the EP’s most corrosive attacks, channeling the band’s grind-driven intensity through a dense and oppressive atmosphere. “Carved” takes a different route, slowing the assault into a chug-heavy groove built around blunt rhythmic force.
“Down, Down, to Goblin Town” emerges as one of the record’s defining tracks, combining grindcore velocity, crushing weight and a memorably structured refrain. The song carries a strangely infectious quality beneath its hostile exterior, turning Tolkien’s goblin chant into an extreme-metal descent through the underground.
The appropriately titled “Short, Sharp, Shock” delivers a concentrated burst of blunt-force aggression, while Mangled Carpenter’s rendition of “Terminate Damnation” pays tribute to Australian Christian death-metal pioneers Mortification. The original track appeared on the band’s landmark 1992 album, Scrolls of the Megilloth.
Between Blood and Silence expands Mangled Carpenter’s vocabulary without severing the roots of its sound. The EP presents a band exploring atmosphere, restraint and experimentation while keeping its deathgrind machinery fully operational.
Between Blood and Silence arrives July 17 through Rottweiler Records and Broken Curfew Records.
