News: DEHUMANIZE Releases New EP – Tragicus. Laetitia. Ira. Misericordia.
Extreme metal outfit DEHUMANIZE has unleashed its new six-track EP, Tragicus. Laetitia. Ira. Misericordia., through Broken Curfew Records.
Built from serrated guitar work, mechanized percussion and a vocal performance that sounds dragged from the deepest chamber of the human psyche, the EP drives through themes of spiritual decay, hostility, abandonment and mercy. Its Latin title evokes a volatile sequence of emotional and existential states: tragedy, joy, wrath and compassion.
The release opens with the brief atmospheric introduction “Red Eye Effect” before descending into “Ichabod,” a title drawn from the biblical declaration that “the glory has departed.” From there, DEHUMANIZE moves through the desolation of “The Stillborn Soul,” the open conflict of “Enmity” and the title track’s collision of anguish and mercy. “The Great Falling Away” closes the record with an apocalyptic final statement.
DEHUMANIZE consists of Tiago James Souza on guitar and bass, with Eli Vincent handling vocals and drum programming. Vincent recorded the vocals at Incision Media, which also mixed the EP. Seth Metoyer mastered the release.
