News: Glory of Kings Announces Roots of the Past, Shares New Singles Ahead of Roxx Records Release
Christian metal newcomers Glory of Kings have unveiled plans for their upcoming full-length album, Roots of the Past, which will arrive through Roxx Records. The announcement comes alongside the release of the band’s first preview tracks, “The Mystery” and “Mindwar,” offering listeners an early taste of the project’s musical direction.
According to the band, Roots of the Past explores themes of history, identity, and the lasting influence of the past. The material leans into a darker, more atmospheric approach while maintaining the melodic heavy metal foundation, driving guitar work, and epic arrangements that have become part of the band’s sound.
“This album represents where we come from and what shaped us,” the band said in a statement. “It’s about confronting history and understanding how it echoes into everything we create today.”
The project also carries a connection to Christian metal history. Several songs originated with the hope that they would eventually appear on a new Sacred Warrior release. That connection comes through founding member Jonathan Johnson, who previously performed with the veteran Christian metal band.
The early singles have already attracted attention from longtime fans of classic and progressive Christian metal. “The Mystery” showcases layered arrangements and an atmospheric mood, while “Mindwar” continues the band’s blend of melodic heaviness and cinematic songwriting.
Glory of Kings cite influences including Sacred Warrior, Crimson Glory, Queensrÿche, Deliverance, Savatage, and Deny The Fallen, placing the band firmly within the tradition of melodic heavy metal with progressive and power metal elements.
