Let’s be honest: whenever a new guitar utility drops into the App Store, the initial response from any seasoned studio rat or working songwriter is a heavy sigh, accompanied by the obligatory eye roll. Conventional thinking tells us that necessity is the mother of invention, which is exactly why I decided to put this application through its paces.

When Jagan from their marketing team reached out, we had a great conversation. But what really sealed the deal was when the developer and creator of the app himself followed up and sent me a personal video. That’s a class act. Right off the bat, you could tell he’s done his homework—he’s a creator who actually understands what players need in the trenches because he’s lived it.

When you spend six hours a day in the tracking room writing two to four songs a week, you appreciate people who respect your time. And when you fire up Guitar Wiz, that respect shows in every single feature.

I use this app daily. I like all the features and haven’t had any trouble at all. What’s cool about it is it even includes a metronome, which most companies charge extra for. I’m a songwriter, so whenever I am out and about and a song comes to me and I want to know what key I’m singing, I just pull up the app, match the key, and write it in my notes. It also has a songwriter so I can write entire songs. I’m constantly looking for this app to use for so many different features. It’s very solid, very stable. I’ve had very few problems. I’ve had a few sound problems here and there basically, but I believe those were iPhone problems and not the app problems because everything else is stable. It’s very clean.
