IMMORTAL CONSTRUCT: Truly, Truly

Immortal Construct
Truly, Truly
(independent)
“Ashes to ashes, and dust to dust
Satan, you will be crushed!”
So starts the new EP from independent metalcore artist Immortal Construct. In an era
where so many bands are ambiguous in their lyrical stance, “Truly, Truly” gives us a
clear picture that we will not find such ambiguity here. The opening track “Genesis”
features a heavy hardcore rhythm and some melodic lead guitars over the breakdown.
Musically, the band feature fairly standard metalcore with lots of down-tuned guitars,
shouted vocals, breakdown-style riffs, melodic leads, and so forth. The production is
very good, considering this EP was released without the support of a record label. The
band come from California, but not a lot else is known about them.
There are some mild djent elements to it, but not a ton. Any traditional metal/death
metal elements are minimized in favor of some occasionally thrashy riffs (especially on
“Calloused”) and lots of -core style chunky rhythms. Closing track “Revelation” is
probably the heaviest and features the fastest tempo, almost approaching blastbeats on
the intro, before settling into some cleaner guitars on the verses.
While I’m not hearing anything incredibly original here, it’s definitely a worthy entry into
the Christ-centered metalcore realm. I will say though that this is one of those projects
that gets better and better the more I listen to it. All in all this is a very solid EP, and I
anticipate hearing more good things from this band.
