News: Dichotomy – Announces Debut Album ‘Lucifer Owns The Fence’
Death metal runs deep in Jordan Varela’s history, and his latest endeavor under the name Dichotomy brings that pedigree into sharp focus. Known for his work with In-Conquered, Lust Of Decay, as well as his contributions to Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement and past tenure with Lividity, Varela now steps forward with a fully realized solo statement. The debut album, Lucifer Owns The Fence, arrives July 3 through Rottweiler Records.
The record delivers nine tracks rooted firmly in classic death metal traditions while pushing forward with a modern intensity. Opening cut and lead single “He Is…” wastes no time, launching with a savage vocal assault and diving headfirst into tightly controlled chaos. The playing is relentless—blistering drums, twisting riffs, and abrupt shifts that feel violent yet intentional.
Tracks like “What A God” reveal the album’s deeper structure. Beneath the speed and aggression lies a deliberate framework, with hooks and rhythmic turns that reward repeat listens. There is a precision here that separates the record from mere extremity for extremity’s sake. Even at its most punishing, the material carries a sense of control and design.
Elsewhere, “Better To Be Drowned With A Millstone Around The Neck” drives forward with a focused, unyielding attack, while “The Greatest Lie Ever Told” injects sharp, stabbing riff work and piercing harmonics into the mix. Each track builds on the last, escalating the intensity without losing clarity or direction.
The album closes with “Satan Will Kill You,” a track that lands with weight both musically and thematically, bringing the record to a decisive and uncompromising finish.
What sets Lucifer Owns The Fence apart is its singular execution. Every instrument, every vocal, every arrangement choice comes directly from Varela himself. That unified vision gives the album a cohesion and purpose that stands out, even within a genre known for technical prowess and extremity.
Lucifer Owns The Fence is not passive listening. It demands attention, volume, and engagement. For listeners drawn to the legacy of bands like Hate Eternal, Deicide, Immolation, and Cannibal Corpse, Dichotomy’s debut delivers a direct and uncompromising experience.
