News: NRT Revamps Website

While not exclusively metal, this site is exclusively Christian. Bands like XIii Minutes are covered extensively. Check out the latest news from our brothers at NRT:

24 years later, NRT has been rebuilt.

A faster, cleaner, fully mobile Christian music discovery experience is finally here.Explore NRT 3.0

Hey NRT Subscriber,

Twenty-four years ago, we launched NewReleaseToday with one simple goal: help people discover great Christian music.

Back then, that meant keeping up with new releases, sharing artist news, and creating a place where fans could explore a growing music scene that deserved more attention. What started as a personal passion project became something much bigger because of you. Millions of visits, thousands of artists, countless albums, and an incredible community of music fans have helped shape what NRT has become.

Today, I’m excited to welcome you to the biggest update in our history.

For the past two years, our team has been quietly building NewReleaseToday 3.0 from the ground up. Twenty years ago, we modeled NRT after MySpace. Yes, we’re that old. We couldn’t just redesign a few pages on top of old technology, so we started from scratch, and that allowed us to dream a bit.

Every page, every feature, and every section has been rethought with one question in mind: how do we make discovering Christian music even better in a sea of never-ending releases and noise?

A Better Way To Discover

The new homepage is designed around discovery. Whether you’re looking for today’s biggest stories in Christian music, the latest releases, reviews, interviews, playlists, videos, or featured artists, everything is organized to help you find what matters without feeling overwhelming.

Introducing NRT Zones

One of my favorite additions is NRT Zones, a completely new way to experience NewReleaseToday.

We love Christian music in all genres, but we understand that’s not always the case. Instead of one endless list, we’ve created dedicated Zones that make it easier to explore the styles you love or branch out into something new.

Whether your playlist leans Contemporary, WorshipPopRap & UrbanRockCountryGospelDance & ElectronicChristmas, or somewhere in between, you’ll find artists, releases, news, playlists, and recommendations built around those genres.

NRTeam Members can also customize the homepage by adding their favorite Zones. Sign up for free, visit your Profile Settings, or click “+ Add Zone To Favs” at the top of any Zone page.

Editorial That Puts Stories First

Articles now feature larger photography, improved typography, cleaner layouts, and a reading experience that keeps the focus where it belongs: on the stories.

We’re also bringing back community comments because Christian music has always been about conversation. We want NRT to once again be a place where fans can share opinions, encourage one another, and celebrate great music together.

We’ve also added NRT Zones and Site Tags to our editorial and news databases, sorting more than two decades of archived content into a more searchable experience.

Video Has A New Home

Video has become one of the most important ways artists connect with fans, and NRT 3.0 reflects that.

Our new video experience makes it easier to discover music videoslyric videoslive performancesinterviews, and exclusive NRT specials all in one place.

Playlists That Keep Growing

Streaming has transformed how we all listen to music. It’s hard to believe that streaming wasn’t even a concept when we relaunched NRT last time in 2006.

Our playlist section has been rebuilt to make discovering new music easier across Spotify and Apple Music, where NewReleaseToday continues to serve as an official Christian music curator. We’ve also added genre-specific playlists to all Zone pages.

Every week you’ll find fresh playlists highlighting new releases, emerging artists, seasonal themes, and the songs our editorial team can’t stop playing.

The Archive Lives On

Dating back to 1971, our New Release Archive remains the most comprehensive archive of Christian music releases anywhere online, and it’s received a big facelift.

With NRT 3.0, it’s faster to search, easier to browse, and more accessible than ever before inside the Music tab.

Our Coming Soon page now separates Albums and EPs from Singles, and our editorial team will be working to add release information earlier and link to those releases from that page.

Designed For Every Device

When NRT launched in 2002, mobile browsing wasn’t part of the conversation. Over the years, we did our best to retrofit the site for a mobile world, but the experience was inconsistent.

NRT 3.0 changes that. Every section, page, and feature is now fully responsive, giving you the same functionality, content, and experience whether you’re browsing from your desktop, tablet, or phone.

And yes, NRT now has dark mode.

Built For What’s Next

NRT 3.0 is faster, more stable, more mobile-friendly, more secure, and built on a modern platform that gives us the flexibility to continue adding features for years to come.

This launch is the foundation for everything we plan to build next.

Thank You

Projects like this happen because of talented developers who believed in the vision, contributors who continued creating content while we worked on the new platform, artists and industry partners who trusted us, and readers who have made NewReleaseToday part of their daily routine for more than two decades.

Most importantly, thank you for continuing to believe in what NRT stands for.

Christian music has always been about pointing people toward something bigger. Our mission has never changed, and we’re excited to have new tools to tell those stories today.

Whether you’ve been visiting since the early days — shout out to NewReleaseTuesday — or you’re discovering us for the first time, welcome.

We’re just getting started.
